Digital Painting
There are different methods to create digital paintings . Each method has it’s unique way as to how a digital painting can be done.
Artists can create a original digital painting using a blank canvas the same way a traditional artist would do. With this method digital artists are using the same tools, brushes, paints and canvas as the traditional artist would use. The difference is that a digital artist is using a software program , computer screen as their canvas and a mouse or electronic pen as their brushes. Digital painting still requires brush strokes for everything one sees in the painting. Also, the digital artist must still choose or blend colors from a palette the same way a traditional artist would do. A digital painting can be just as time consuming as a traditional painting. Digital paintings require brush strokes the same way as traditional paintings do. In addition digital artists can use tools and special effects that are provided within the software the artist is using.
These tools and special effects enable the artist to create original digital paintings that are very unique. This method is using software and innovative technology at it’s highest limits . Of course the artists skills and creativity are always needed to complete the final digital painting. Sometimes a single digital painting could require weeks or months to complete.
Another method that a digital artist can use to paint digital paintings is from a digital picture. With this method the artist can download a digital photo into a program and paint right on the subject. When painting from a digital photo the artists can enhance parts of the subject, paint over the subject or add new subjects that can completely change the entire picture . Although the artist started with a digital picture they use their own creative talents to complete the digital painting. The traditional painter could see this method as unoriginal . But digital artists see it as another way of painting by using their creativity and the innovative technology that is available today.
